Michelle Baum, APR


For more than two decades, Michelle has developed and successfully executed communication programs for privately-held and publicly-traded technology companies. She has launched new companies and products, led PR efforts to support mergers and acquisitions, and secured coverage in top-tier business and trade media and industry analyst reports. In 2004, Michelle founded Moxie + Mettle to provide a highly integrated, collaborative approach to amplifying brand visibility for clients.

Prior to founding Moxie + Mettle, Michelle served as the director of corporate communications for Carrier Access, a provider of communications access technologies, where she was responsible for marketing communications, public relations, and investor relations. Before that, Michelle was the managing director of a Boston-based PR firm where she provided strategic counsel related to corporate, product and competitive positioning, and devised corporate development strategies. She also served as PR manager of Unisphere Networks, a Siemens-owned provider of IP infrastructure products. In this role, she directed worldwide communication initiatives and managed PR agencies in the U.S. and Asia Pacific region. Michelle began her career working for three Boston-based PR agencies.

Michelle graduated from the University of Iowa with dual bachelor’s degrees in journalism and political science. She also earned a master’s degree in education from Regis University and is accredited in public relations (APR) by the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA). Michelle taught at Metropolitan State University of Denver for 10 years as an adjunct instructor and tenured professor, where she led the public relations degree program. She has also served as a board member for the Colorado chapters of the American Marketing Association and PRSA and as the president of the Southwest Education Council for Journalism and Mass Communication. She currently serves as a board member for the Meg Foundation, a nonprofit that provides pain management strategies for children.
